Akkineni Amala's Reality Show On MAA TV

There was a time when she was rated as the hottest heroines in the southern circuit. True to her beauty, she has paired up with the likes of superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan etc. Later she paired up with yuvasamrat Nagarjuna and ended up being his partner for the rest of her life.

She is none other than Amala Akkineni and after having been off the screen for quite a while, she is now making a comeback. There is news that Amala will be seen as the judge for a reality show in the MAA channel and this is a very interesting concept which has a noble cause in it.

The show is titled ‘Oka Chinna Marpu’ and this revolves around ten contestants who will take up tasks of cleaning up their neighborhood and creating a new environment. This is more of protecting the nature and Amala would be deciding the top three winners from the contestants. Waiting to see you Amala!!

Rail engine ditched us: Chiru

Why did Praja Rajyam Party lose the elections? Well, PRP president Chiranjeevi has the answer.

According to him, most of the voters wanted to vote for the PRP, but they could not locate the rail engine symbol on the Electronic Voting Machine. The symbol was very vague. So, they chose hand, which was clearly visible and identifiable. “This is the major reason. That is the reason why we want to change our election symbol. We are going to file an appeal before the Election Commission seeking the change in symbol,” he said.

Party sources said Chiru has proposed to ask for “umbrella” symbol for the next election, since it can be easily recognised by voters.

Silly excuse, isn’t it. It is nothing but doubting the wisdom of the voters. They clearly look for symbols while voting; and if they really want to vote for the PRP, they don’t find it difficult to locate the rail engine. Even if it is umbrella, people would not vote for the party, unless they want to. It is better Chiru learns this fundamental point.

Chiranjeevi To Tuitions For 'Assembly Classes'

Megastar Chiranjeevi seems to have a very filmy approach for everything he does. That is something he did even for his political career and while it has worked for him, it seems to have fired badly for his party members having looked at the recent election results.

Meanwhile, Chiru is all set to enter the assembly and it seems that he is quite excited over his new role as an MLA. In order to equip himself with the nuances of this new role, Chiru is said to be looking at going for tuitions for the assembly classes so that he makes his presence felt.

The assembly sessions are said to be beginning during the first week of June and Chiru is rather keen to observe the proceedings there and understand how resolutions are made and passed. In a way, this will be a debut for the megastar so let us see how he performs in this one.

Behind The Scene: 'Maa Allu bangaaram'

Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi seems to be completely under the charm of his brother-in-law Allu Aravind.

It is evident from the way Chiranjeevi does not want to entertain any criticism against Aravind and is not willing to listen to any comments. In the last three days of the party’s political affairs meeting, Chiranjeevi received hundreds of complaints against Aravind, but he brushed aside all the criticism.

“He is the backbone of the party. I know how much strain he had undergone in building the party. It is unfortunate that people are targeting Aravind for the party’s performance in the elections,” Chiru told media persons.

Well, NTR, too, used to say similar words against Chandrababu Naidu in the early days of the TDP government. But what happened is a history.

Behind The Scene: Journalists or terrorists?

Fresh from the victory, albeit marginally, in the recent elections, Medak MP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi secretary general Vijayashanti has once again displayed her “arrogance” by describing media persons as “terrorists.”

“I am sorry to say this, but to my eyes, you all appear like terrorists, rather than journalists. You are pointing your gun at our head and asking us when we are leaving the TRS. This is not fair. If at all I want to quit the TRS, I will let you know before I speak to party president K Chandrasekhara Rao,” she said at the press conference on Saturday.

The fact is that it was not media persons, but KCR who behaved like a terrorist. He threatened Vijayashanti at gunpoint for giving a scope to media persons to write negative stories on the TRS. It was Vijayashanti who made an off the remark comment before the media against KCR’s decision not to give any tickets to women candidates. KCR pulled her up and made her issue a clarification. “For certain reasons, we could not give tickets to women candidates. We will do justice to them in future,” she said.

ETV Suman: Severe Cancer To Lord Krishna's Role

The passion towards hogging the limelight in front of the media is there in quite a lot of people and there are times when some make extra efforts to be in the news at all times. This time, we are talking about the noted personality Suman who is better known as the son of the media baron Ramoji Rao.

After having stirred up a major controversy by having a rift with his father and giving a candid interview to the Sakshi folks, it was also said that Suman was suffering from Skin cancer and had to go to the US for getting the treatment done. A major chaos was happening just few months ago.

But now, all that has been put to rest and Suman is busy with the arrival of his new movie ‘Usha Parinayam’. He is doing all possible roles behind the screen and also donning the role of Lord Krishna amidst all this. It looks like Suman has made quite a journey in the recent past. Now, Suman has got rid of that cancer with continuous medication, say sources.

Analysis: YSR is the king again!

It is a great victory for Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who fought against all odds -- there were no star campaigners for the party, a united opposition, a sort of non-cooperation from within the party and entry of a new political party, Praja Rajyam, which has a backing of a strong community in coastal Andhra,

The Congress has 157 seats in the 294-member assembly, while the Telugu Desam-led Mahakutami could win only 106 seats, including 91 for TDP, 10 for TRS, four for CPI and one for CPI-M. The PRP remained a poor third with 18 seats. Others could get 13 seats, including two BJP, one Lok Satta, seven MIM and three independents.

The election results have surprised the poll-pundits, who were predicting that there would be a hung assembly in the state this time and that the seats of PRP would be crucial in deciding the fate of the new government.

There are many reasons for the victory of the Congress in the assembly elections. The main reason is that it was completely a positive vote for the Congress government. In the last five years, the YSR government had fulfilled all its promises on implementing welfare and development programmes. The schemes implemented by the Congress government fetched YSR the victory. Thus, there was no anti-incumbency factor this time. The anti-government vote, if any, was split between the TDP and the PRP. Secondly, the alliance with the TRS proved to be a nemesis for the TDP. The TRS has not only fared poorly even in the Telangana strongholds, but also spoiled the chances of the TDP. This was evident from the way the Congress won more than 40 seats in Telangana region. There was no transfer of votes even among the TDP and the Communist parties in many areas.

And the PRP also spoiled the TDP chances. Chiranjeevi's social justice slogan failed to impress the people and he heavily banked on caste polarisation, especially the Kapu factor in the coastal Andhra, hoping to eat into the Congress vote bank. But, it could only eat into the TDP votes, damaging the latter's prospects. Chiranjeevi himself lost his Palacole assembly segment in his native West Godavari district, though he won the Tirupati seat with a meagre margin of around 10,000 votes. Analysts say the TDP would have benefitted much, had there been no PRP in the fray; or there should have been an alliance between the Congress and the TDP.

Finally, the TDP's much-hyped cash transfer scheme and supply of free colour televisions to the poor also have failed to make any impact on the electorate

TN, Andhra to provide 65 seats to UPA

Tamil Nadu and Andhra once again lived up to their reputation of playing a decisive role in the formation of government at the Centre with both the states contributing more than 65 seats to kitty of Congress-led UPA which will retain power.

While ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh won 32 out of the total 42 seats in the state, DMK-Congress combine emerged victorious in 28 out of the 39 seats in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

Congress also wrested the lone seat in Puducherry from PMK with Union Minister V Narayanaswamy winning from there by a comfortable margin.

It was UPA's tally of 75 from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry that had helped the Congress form the government at the Centre after the 2004 elections.

Since 1996 Lok Sabha elections, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have played a major role in the government formation at the Centre.

It was DMK, TMC and TDP which had mooted the United Front that ruled the country for just one-and-a-half years. Then in 1998 elections, TDP, AIADMK, PMK and MDMK had played the role of a kingmaker when BJP formed a government with its allies.

When an election was forced on the country after Jayalalithaa withdrew support to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government in 2009, BJP joined hands with TDP in Andhra Pradesh and DMK in Tamil Nadu and bagged maximum number of seats which helped BJP come back to power again.

DMK, PMK and MDMK cobbled an alliance with Congress and trounced the AIADMK-BJP combine by scoring 40 out of 40 in 2004.

Congress has created a wave again. Washing out all sorts of opinions, Congress emerged as single largest party in the state. The magic figure to form government is 148 and Congress won an impressive 157. Although Mahakootami was formed to pillage Congress, nothing worked out at last.

The party that got huge sympathy in this election season is PRP that couldn’t get even a satisfied number of seats or the least possible. The only saving grace is that Chiranjeevi could win at least from one of his constituencies. Lok Satta has seen the triumph in the form of Jaya Prakash Narayan’s victory from Kukatpally. In fact nonce expected more than that for this party.

Earlier it was assumed that Congress needs the support of other independents or MIM to form government. Initially in the morning, even Congress leaders thought of negotiating terms with PRP if necessary. But at last, time and tide turned positive for Congress. Welfare schemes like Arogyasree, Abhaya Hastam, Old age pensions, Fee waiver for BCs and Indiramma Houses played vital role for the triumph of Congress on a whole.

The wave is bigger in center. BJP, the major opponent has declared its defeat officially. Now for another 5 years India will see Congress Raj again.

Chiru is neither king or king maker

There was no silent revolution, as predicted by Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi. He thought even if the party does not win majority seats, it would get sufficient number of seats that would decide the fate of the government, the Congress or the TDP.

However, going by the trends, the Congress seems to be forming the government without taking any support from Chiranjeevi party. At the most, he can take the support of the MIM and a couple of independents. So, Chiranjeevi's party would finish a poor third; and he is going to be neither a king or a king maker!

Undavalli Arun Kumar Won From Rajahmundry LS

Undavalli Arun Kumar has won from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha on his closest opponent Murali Mohan of TDP. Murali Mohan was fielded only to put check to Undavalli Arun Kumar.

Chandrababu and Ramoji Rao (who is said to be the man behind Undavalli’s fielding) felt that Murali Mohan’s cine glamour would put an end to Undavalli who brought troubles for Ramoji Rao with Margadarsi issue. Once again it’s proved that cine glamour would never work in front of a sincere politician who works for his party and people of constituency.

Undavalli didn’t even spend much on campaigning in Rajahmundry like Murali Mohan (TDP) did. Even Krishnam Raju (PRP) made some hungama with expensive campaigns. But Undavalli kept silent and used only local TV channel for campaigning. He moved along with YSR for interpreting the speeches of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi at that time. Many assumed that he would lose as he is not concentrating on campaigning. But people concentrated on him and brought him victory.

It’s now a shivering time for Ramoji Rao again as Undavalli said earlier that he would dig out bigger facts relating to Margadarsi after elections. Congress sources say that Undavalli has prepared a document relating to flaws relating to RFC as well. He also made a TV serial on Ramoji Rao which will be aired on Sakshi channel tentatively within couple of months. Let us see what trouble Undavalli would create for Ramoji Rao. To sign off, it has to be said that Ramoji failed in defeating Undavalli using Murali Mohan.
