Godavari calls again : Kamalini Mukharjee

Kamalinee Mukherjee of Godavari fame seems to have an inexplicable link with the river. Interestingly, ever since she started acting in Telugu films, a major chunk of them ––Meenakshi, Pellaindi Kani, Godavari, Classmates and Gamyam –– had the River Godavari in the backdrop and every year she would be there shooting. Just when she was thinking that this year she would giving it a miss, she was offered a plum role in veteran director Vamsi‘s Gopi Gopika Godavari. The Bong beauty says excitedly, "Vamsi has always portrayed his leading ladies differently and the new film is a spectacular love story. The other reason for my excitement is that I am going back to the Godavari. It must be a past life link."

Trisha In 2-piece bikini?

It’s all hotting up between Trisha and Nayantara. Nayantara did it in Billa. She wore a bikini in the film and shot up to fame. Today Nayantara is highest paid actress in the southern film world. Seeing all this sudden attention for Nayantara Trisha is fuming with jealousy. No wonder to draw all the attention to herself the dusky actress has decided to bear it all in a two piece bikini in a forth coming movie called ‘Sarvam’. The film is being directed by Vishnu Vardhan and the leading man in the film is Bharath. The name of the film seems to a bit symbolic for the actress as she is prepared to expose sarvam (everything) through this film. One needs to see if this sarvam of an exposure will continue to happen in her future movies. The film has some graphic scenes involving Trisha and Bharath. It is believed that Trisha has also consented to do a special song in the film with high voltage exposure.

Ramaprabha Wants Help

Old age is sometimes a bane. Especially if one has to live alone and bear difficulties in life. Ramaprabha is best remembered as a comedian but no one can discount the abilities the lady had as an actress. Cutting across age the actress has appeared in some mind blowing roles which Telugu cinema will remember for a long time. The same Ramaprabha is now appearing on some TV shows for some financial succor. She is apparently in some financial crisis at this age. The only option seems to be TV as the big roles in films have apparently dried up. One is sure with her talent and abilities the actress will keep the TV audience in good humor and keep her earning and sustenance in good stead. Right now she is appearing in game shows on Telugu channels to make her existence known to producers and TV audiences.

Chandrababu's Fresh 'Vennupotu' To Balayya

The word 'vennupotu' is much popularized with Chandrababu Naidu and here is the latest update from TDP sources.

Balakrishna is not going to be the chief attraction in Yuvagarjana as the agenda of the event is subject to change with the interest of Chandrababau Naidu. Initially it was said that Balakrishna's debut into politics is going to be the chief aspect in the Yuvagarjana but now it is going to be just one of the many things.

Chandrababu is going to be the main speaker from the dais while Balakrishna will come and announce that he has joined with TDP officially. There is no other scope for him to speak in extended minutes.

Chandrababu, it seems, shared with his party men that depending on Balakrishna may not be wise thing and as Jr NTR, a relatively better speaker, is also not available, it is reasonable to dilute the effect of Balakrishna. Naidu fears that Balakrishna may spoil the show by talking something irrelevant as he did in many of his recent film functions.

While Chiranjeevi was the solo speaker on Tirupathi dais on 26th August, here on Yuvagarjana there are going to be 12-15 speakers all together. Chance will be given for almost all the main party leaders from the categories of region, caste and position. The National Highway on which Nagarjuna University is situated is going to be decorated with 6 feet TDP flags for about 70 km. The road between Vijayawada and Chilakaluripeta will be the most happening one on 5th of November.

Telangana parties observe AP formation day as ‘betrayal day’

Hyderabad, Nov 1 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Saturday celebrated its 52nd formation day while some parties demanding separate statehood for the Telangana region observed it as a `betrayal day’.The classical language status given to Telugu by the central government Friday added to the celebrations this year but the divide was also clear with Telangana parties claiming they were closer to achieving the goal of a separate state.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy led the celebrations by unfurling the national flag at the main official function held at NTR Stadium here. A colourful parade and cultural programmes highlighting the rich Telugu culture were held on the occasion.

In his speech, the chief minister reiterated his government’s commitment to the overall development of the state. He claimed that his government was working for the development of all the regions without any discrimination.

The chief minister said the classical language status given to Telugu was a matter of pride for all Telugu speaking people.

However, protest demonstrations marked the day in the Telangana region, which is witnessing a renewed movement for a separate state.

Holding black flags, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and Nava Telangana Praja Party (NTPP) activists tried to disrupt the official celebrations. The two parties observed it as `betrayal day’ alleging that injustice was done to the region with the rulers from Andhra going back on all the assurances given at the time of the merger.

Tension prevailed in Sangareddy in Medak district when TRS activists tried to march towards police parade grounds where Geeta Reddy, minister for major industries, was participating in the formation day celebrations. The police used force to disperse TRS workers squatting on the road to stop the minister.

TRS legislators Harish Rao and Ramalinga Reddy were among the dozens of people arrested in Sangareddy. TRS floor leader in the assembly E. Rajender and others were arrested in Karimnagar district.

NTPP, formed recently by former minister T. Devender Goud, staged a road blockade at Vanasthalipuram on the city outskirts.

It was Nov 1, 1956 that Telangana, part of erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad, was merged with Andhra to form a state for Telugu speaking people with Hyderabad as its capital.

The Telangana region comprises nine districts, including Hyderabad, witnessed violent movement for a separate state in 1970s. The TRS revived the movement in 2001.

On Sep 1, 1953, Telugu-speaking Rayalseema and coastal Andhra areas of Madras State were separated to form Andhra state with Kurnool as its capital.

This followed the death of Telugu leader Potti Sriramulu in December 1952 after a 56-day hunger strike to press the demand for a separate state for Telugus.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and leader of opposition and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu paid rich tributes to Potti Sriramulu by garlanding his statue here.

Leaders of TRS, NTPP and other parties fighting for separate Telangana paid rich tributes to the martyrs who fought for a separate Telangana. They said the region was witnessing the last Andhra Pradesh formation day.

Devender Goud, who quit TDP to form NTPP, vowed to continue the struggle till Telangana achieves separate statehood.

The formation day was celebrated at a time when the Telangana issue has come back to the centre stage of the state politics in view of the ensuing elections and all parties except the ruling Congress have categorically declared their support to the demand for the separate state.

TDP, which had been opposing bifurcation of the state since the party’s formation in early 1980s, recently backed the demand for separate Telangana.

Vijayawada-Guntur Painted Yellow

Vijayawada: The two cities of Vijayawada and Guntur are being painted yellow by the Telugu Desam party for its Yuvagarjana to be held on November 5.

The enthusiastic leaders from the two towns have also put up massive flex boards on both sides of the road between Vijayawada and Guntur. The photographs of NTR, Chandrababu Naidu, Harikrishna, Balakishna and Junior NTR dominate these massive hoardings with the party asking people to make the Yuva Garjana a success.

The TD workers have prepared the area opposite to the Acharya Nagarjuna University for the event. Temporary roads were laid and thorny bushes were cleared and the low-lying areas were filled with lose soil.

The main roads in the two cities and the main traffic junctions were also decorated with the party hoardings. Surprisingly, the party flags are not seen this time as the flex hoardings have come up revolutionizing the campaign.

Besides massive hoardings measuring 120 square ft width and 40 square feet height, the TD leaders have also put up small hoardings to the electricity polls.

Hot Anushka Scores A New Record

She is one girl who has been making waves for her voluptuous oomph and interestingly, though her recent flicks have not been able to shine at the box office her list of offers has not receded. Now, she has entered the books of history with a new record of sorts.

We are talking about the voluptuous beauty Anushka who has become the hottest woman in the circuit and now she has made a mark for herself by becoming the only heroine to come up with a double hat-trick. For the record, only two movies in the form of 'Chintakayala Ravi' and 'Souryam' have been registered as hits and she still has few more projects up her sleeve. No other heroine except Genelia is enjoying such series of successes.

It is heard that she is slowly drifting towards performance driven roles. Keep it up Anushka!!!

More NRI Families Might Return

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam politburo member and former finance minister, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, visualized the danger of global economic crisis hitting Indian families.

At a press conference, Yanamala referred to the economic crisis hitting several families, particularly some of the Telugu families in US and European nations. He said that the present crisis, if not resolved, would reflect on the State economy as the NRI funds, which has been the major source of our economy, would stop flowing in. He also feared that some of the NRI families would return to the State as they lose jobs and they would be a burden on the State.

He feared that the international companies that have already invested here might withdraw their investments resulting in thousands of people losing their jobs. This would also render people jobless and lead to crisis.

He wanted the government to take steps to divert investments to productive sectors like agriculture and industry as that would resolve the present crisis.

Ash Gets Good Marks As 'Daughter-In-Law'

The gorgeous beauty Aishwarya Rai may have been the most beautiful woman in the world sometime back and is still considered as one, her life as an individual and a wife seems to be very much like any other woman.

Apparently, Ash has been getting some real good accolades from those who have known and seen her during the past few weeks. She was busy taking care of her father in law Amitabh Bachchan when he was admitted into hospital and prepared food with her own hands and took it to him. Also, when her own father Krishnaraj got admitted immediately after Big B came out, Ash was back to her chores as a dutiful daughter this time.

She has been becoming an inspiration to many career oriented women who fail to balance their personal and family life. Well done Ash!!!
